How it worksAbout
Adam Diaz is a business coach, speaker, and teacher in the Tri-Cities, WA. His work has one job: make business make sense so owners can decide with confidence.
The story
I've always been a teacher. In college I tutored accounting and loved it. Not the accounting, the moment where somebody's face changes because the thing finally clicked. That moment has been the throughline of my whole career.
I got a bachelor's in accounting and a master's in tax, and I got very good at both. In 2012, in my mid-twenties, I started an accounting firm. I knew debits and credits cold. I did not know how to hire, how to price, or how to build something that didn't depend entirely on me. I figured it out the way most owners do: by getting it wrong first. We grew to six employees and about 250 clients, and I eventually built it to the point where it could sell, and sold it. A second firm after that, sold too.
Along the way I taught accounting and economics at Columbia Basin College for a decade, earned tenure, and led the business department. I planted a church here in the Tri-Cities and led it for seven years. Different rooms, same job: take something people find intimidating and make it make sense.
Then in 2022 my business partner and I bought the Lexar Homes franchise for the Tri-Cities. Thirteen people, real payroll, homes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Everything I'd taught got tested. Most of it held up. Some of it I had to relearn from the other side of the desk. I also own Pure View Exterior Cleaning with my brother and my dad.
Here's what I've learned from seeing business from four chairs, the accountant's, the professor's, the pastor's, and the owner's: most owners aren't failing because they're lazy. They're failing because nobody ever made the business make sense to them. That's the job I'm built for.
A business guy who's great at finance. Not a finance guy.
